Decodo, known as Smartproxy until April 2025, is a Lithuanian proxy provider built for web scraping and data collection. It sells residential, datacenter, ISP and mobile proxies, plus a Web Scraping API and Site Unblocker, on a self-serve model you can set up yourself in minutes. In this Decodo review we look at proxy types and coverage, what you’ll really pay, performance in independent tests, KYC and IP sourcing, and what users on G2 and Trustpilot say. Prices, trial and refund terms were checked on Decodo’s own pages on 20 October 2026.
Our verdict
Decodo is the provider we’d shortlist first for most small and mid-size teams. Residential traffic starts at $3.75/GB and drops to $2/GB at volume, everything is self-serve, and its residential pool was among the fastest and most reliable in Proxyway’s 2026 tests. You get all four proxy types and the scraping tools without ever talking to sales.
Where it falls short is paperwork. There’s no public SOC 2 report, which can rule it out at companies with strict procurement rules, and the free trial is tiny: 100 MB over three days. If you need enterprise compliance or a dedicated account team from day one, Bright Data or Oxylabs is the safer pick.

Decodo proxy types and network
Decodo sells four proxy types. Here’s how they compare.
| Type | Pool | Price from | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Residential | 115M+ IPs | $3.75/GB | Scraping, SERP and price monitoring with real-user IPs |
| Datacenter | 500K+ IPs | $0.60/GB or $0.10/IP shared | High-volume jobs where speed and cost matter more than IP type |
| ISP (static residential) | Not disclosed | $1.30/GB or $0.27/IP shared; $2/IP dedicated | Long sessions and account work on one stable IP |
| Mobile | 10M+ IPs, 700+ carriers | $4/GB with current promo ($8 list) | Mobile-only platforms, app and ad checks |
Residential proxies. Decodo residential proxies draw on more than 115 million IPs in 195+ locations. Use them for web scraping, SERP monitoring, price checks and ad verification, anywhere a real home-user IP matters. You can rotate IPs on every request or keep a sticky session for longer tasks.
Datacenter proxies. Shared and dedicated datacenter IPs are the choice when speed, stability and request volume come first and you don’t need a residential IP: think SEO tools, automation and bulk scraping of less protected sites.
ISP proxies. These are static IPs registered to internet providers, so you keep the same address for as long as you need it. That suits account management, monitoring and anything where a changing IP would cause trouble.
Mobile proxies. Requests go out through real mobile carrier IPs, which helps when a platform treats mobile traffic differently or you need to see what phone users see in a given country.
Coverage and protocols. All proxies support HTTP(S) and SOCKS5. Depending on the proxy type, you can target by country, city, ZIP code or ASN, which gives you tight control over where your requests appear to come from.
Decodo pricing: what you’ll actually pay
Decodo sells monthly plans billed per GB (or per IP for datacenter and ISP proxies), plus a pay-as-you-go wallet for residential and mobile traffic. These were the residential prices on 20 October 2026.
| Residential plan | Price per GB | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| 3 GB | $3.75 | $11.25 |
| 10 GB | $3.50 | $35 |
| 25 GB | $3.25 | $81.25 |
| 50 GB | $3.00 | $150 |
| 100 GB | $2.75 | $275 |
| 250 GB | $2.50 | $625 |
| 1 TB | $2.00 | $2,000 |
| Pay-as-you-go | $4.00 | Buy 1 GB at a time |
Other proxy types. Datacenter traffic costs $0.60/GB on the 10 GB plan ($6), $0.51/GB at 250 GB and $0.38/GB at 10 TB. If you’d rather pay per IP, shared datacenter IPs start at $0.10 each (minimum 100) and dedicated ones at $2.50. Dedicated ISP proxies cost $3.33 per IP for 3 IPs ($9.99), falling to $2 per IP at 2,000. Mobile plans are currently 50% off: $3.75/GB on the 2 GB plan, down to $2.25/GB at 500 GB.
Trial and refunds.
- The free trial gives you 100 MB for 3 days. You need a card, PayPal or Google Pay, and the plan starts automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends.
- The trial doesn’t cover pay-as-you-go, dedicated ISP or dedicated datacenter proxies.
- The 14-day money-back guarantee only covers your first self-service purchase, and only if you’ve used no more than 20% of the plan’s traffic or 1 GB, whichever comes first.
- There’s no refund if you used the free trial, paid in crypto or are on an Enterprise plan.
What that means in practice. If you need about 20 GB of residential traffic a month, pay-as-you-go costs $80, while the 25 GB plan costs $81.25 and leaves you 5 GB of headroom. The smallest plan ($11.25 for 3 GB) only beats pay-as-you-go once you use more than about 2.8 GB a month. For comparison, the same 20 GB at Bright Data‘s list pay-as-you-go rate of $8/GB would cost $160.
Performance
In Proxyway’s April 2026 tests, Decodo’s global residential pool reached a 99.92% success rate with an average response time of 0.53 seconds (median 0.43 s), which put it near the top of the field. The US-only pool was a little slower, at 0.75 seconds and 99.32% success. Rotating datacenter proxies in the US hit 99.94% success with 0.35-second responses, though download speeds were modest at about 16.6 MB/s on average.
Keep in mind that these are third-party benchmark results. Your own success rate and speed will depend on the target site, location and proxy type, so use the trial to test the sites you actually care about.
Tools beyond proxies
If you don’t want to build your own scraping stack, Decodo offers a Web Scraping API with general-purpose, SERP, eCommerce and social media endpoints under one subscription, and a Site Unblocker for pages that block regular proxy requests. Day to day, you manage everything from a real-time dashboard with sub-users for teams, and the Chrome and Firefox extensions let you switch proxies in the browser.
Integrations. Decodo lists 50+ integrations, including Puppeteer, Playwright, Selenium and Scrapy, 20+ anti-detect browsers such as Multilogin, AdsPower and GoLogin, Python and TypeScript SDKs, an MCP server, LangChain and n8n.
Getting started: signup, KYC and support
Signup is fully self-serve, and Decodo says you can have a proxy running in about 60 seconds. There’s no upfront KYC for normal use. Verification only kicks in when Decodo’s safeguards flag an account: individuals upload an ID document and a selfie, while companies can fill in a Know Your Business form instead. Passing ID verification also unlocks residential targets that are blocked by default, such as some mailing, business and streaming sites.
Support. You get 24/7 live chat and email, backed by detailed documentation and setup guides, so most people can configure everything on their own. Decodo doesn’t publish a spend threshold for a dedicated account manager, so if that matters to you, ask sales before you commit.
Is Decodo safe and legit?
Decodo has been around since 2018, first as Smartproxy, and says it now serves 135,000+ clients. The legal entity is UAB “Data troops”, registered in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Proxyway describes the company as related to the Tesonet group. The company says it rebranded because its customers’ use cases, from AI training to large-scale scraping, had outgrown the old name.
According to its security and compliance page, Decodo gets residential IPs through verified partners that run peer-to-peer networks, where users must explicitly consent and are rewarded for sharing their connection. It holds an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate for its proxies and Scraping API, offers a data processing agreement and is a co-founder of the Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative (EWDCI). We couldn’t find a SOC 2 report, which can be a blocker for regulated companies.
So, is Decodo legit? Yes. It’s an established, EU-based provider with published sourcing rules, a security certification and default blocks on sensitive targets. Whether it’s safe for your project depends on staying within its terms of service.
Best use cases

SEO and SERP monitoring. Track keyword positions, compare search results across countries and check localized results.
Market research. Gather public data on prices, product ranges, stock and competitor offers across many regions.
Social media data. Spread requests across residential and mobile IPs in different locations when you collect data from social networks.
What users say
For this Decodo review we read user feedback on G2, where it holds 4.6/5 from 765 reviews, and on Trustpilot, where it holds 4.2/5 from 2,113 reviews. Both were checked on 20 October 2026.
Reviewers most often praise the wide choice of proxies, competitive prices and ease of use. The quick start and clear documentation come up again and again, and many say the service works for both everyday data collection and more demanding jobs.
The complaints are more specific: the 100 MB trial is too small for a proper test, some business buyers miss formal compliance reports, and at very high volumes some budget providers work out cheaper.
